entire network infrastructure.

Key Considerations for Selecting a Standard Server Rack

Dimensions and Capacity (Rack Unit):
Server racks are measured based on Rack Unit (U). It is always recommended to select a
rack that provides sufficient capacity for current equipment while maintaining at least
30% additional free space for future expansion.

  • Rack Depth:
    For large physical servers and enterprise equipment, using racks with a depth of
    100 to 120 centimeters is essential to ensure proper installation and cable management.

  • Cooling System:
    Racks equipped with perforated mesh doors and standard cooling fans provide proper
    air circulation, which is critical for preventing equipment overheating and maintaining
    stable operation.

Best Practices for Rack Layout and Equipment Arrangement
Heavy equipment such as UPS systems and batteries should be installed at the lowest
section of the rack to maintain balance and a lower center of gravity. Servers should
be positioned in the middle sections, while network equipment such as patch panels
and switches should be installed in the upper sections to achieve efficient cable
management and easier maintenance.
